AI-based medical devices in intensive care
A Day to Broaden Perspectives
In 2026, EKFZ participated in the nationwide Girls’ Day initiative for the first time. This special day is dedicated to encouraging girls to explore career paths beyond traditional stereotypes, offering insights into professions they may not have previously considered. Initiatives like Girls’ Day are more important than ever for sparking curiosity and inspiring future career ambitions. By providing hands-on experiences, young people can discover their strengths and make more confident decisions about their futures.
At EKFZ, participants had a unique opportunity to explore the fascinating world of medical technology. The program featured interactive workshops in which students learned how medical technologies are applied in clinical settings. They experienced how endoscopy and minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy) work and tested their skills using simulators. In addition, researchers from EKFZ shared insights into the technical challenges of developing medical devices and explained how their work contributes to improving healthcare. The day was marked by discovery, innovation, and inspiration. The inaugural Girls’ Day at EKFZ was a success, with twelve highly engaged students taking part. Their enthusiasm highlighted the value of initiatives like this in nurturing future talent. EKFZ looks forward to welcoming more young participants next year and continuing to inspire the next generation of innovators in medicine and technology.
