Where medicine meets technology: Discover digital health.

Clinicum Digitale

This is for students of the following disciplines: medicine, natural sciences, and engineering.

Clinicum Digitale connects students of medicine, the natural sciences, and engineering to collaborate on shaping the future of university medicine. The program focuses on interdisciplinary discussions about topics such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and clinical applications. The Spring School provides the perfect setting for this exchange. Participants will combine knowledge from different disciplines, work in teams on practical issues, and develop innovative ideas alongside experts from science and clinical practice.

The next Clinicum Digitale Spring School will take place from March 16 to 25, 2026, at the Else Kröner Fresenius Center for Digital Health at the TUD Dresden University of Technology.

Travel Reimbursement

To promote interdisciplinary and inter-university exchange, we offer students not enrolled at TU Dresden the opportunity to apply for travel reimbursement. This allows interested participants to take part in the Spring School, regardless of where they study.

After your registration has been confirmed, you will receive details on the application process, requirements, and the amount of the grant.

Work with tomorrow’s talents!

Project X: Think. Build. Present

We are looking for experts from academia, clinics, industry, and start-ups to mentor an interdisciplinary team of students from the fields of medicine, computer science, the natural sciences, and engineering. Together, you will address real-world issues in digital medicine and medical technology, developing practical solutions.

Why should you get involved?

As a mentor, you will gain new professional insights from various disciplines. You will also gain early access to qualified young talent and establish the groundwork for long-term collaboration.

Insights into Other Disciplines

Clinicum Digitale provides students with a comprehensive and open perspective on the healthcare system. Students acquire interdisciplinary knowledge and skills, develop a cross-disciplinary understanding, and can cultivate an interest in medical technology early on.

For medical professionals, the program includes topics such as programming, artificial intelligence, and robotics. Non-medical students can gain insight into emergency medicine or participate in a ward round. Additionally, students work in interprofessional teams on their own medical technology projects, developing innovative concepts alongside existing research groups at the EKFZ.

There will also be many opportunities to network and exchange ideas on the sidelines of the workshops and lectures.

Bringing innovation to medicine collaboratively

The healthcare sector is caught in a downward spiral of innovation stagnation, declining attractiveness of clinical professions, and a shortage of young talent. Medical technology is particularly affected: here, the transfer of knowledge between technology and medicine often fails due to technical hurdles. Doctors have only limited access to technological developments, while technicians rarely have a deep understanding of medical contexts. But one thing is clear: the challenges of modern medicine, especially in the areas of digitalization and medical technology, can only be overcome through interdisciplinary collaboration.

This is exactly where the interdisciplinary Spring School comes in. Over a week and a half, students of medicine, natural sciences, and engineering have the opportunity to look beyond the boundaries of their own disciplines. In research-oriented courses, they learn the basics of each other’s disciplines, establish interdisciplinary contacts, and discover common fields of research.

The close collaboration between high-tech and medicine creates a space in which new ideas can grow and lays the foundation for sustainable, innovation-oriented university medicine. In this way, committed young talents are inspired at an early stage by the exciting field of medical technology.
