Scientific Focus
The Else Kröner Fresenius Center (EKFZ) for Digital Health, is a joint cross-faculty initiative of the TUD Dresden University of Technology, the University Hospital Carl Gustav Carus along with several other partners on the Dresden campus.
We create a new interdisciplinarity between Medicine and Engineering
The EKFZ for Digital Health bundles the expertise of medical professionals and high-tech experts to create ideal framework conditions for promising medical research and to promote interdisciplinary exchange. The aim is to fully utilize the potential of digitalization in medicine for the benefit of patients and to sustainably improve healthcare, medical research and clinical practice.
There are currently five professorships:
Larysa Baraban – Medical Nanotechnology (in cooperation with HZDR)
Stephen Gilbert – Medical Device Regulatory Science
Jakob N. Kather – Clinical Artificial Intelligence
Ivan Minev – Electronic Tissue Technologies (in cooperation with Leibniz IPF Dresden).
We support medical projects from the initial idea to the prototype
The EKFZ for Digital Health offers flexible financial support for future-oriented interdisciplinary projects. For two years, physicians and technologists can focus their research on a specific, clinically relevant question.
